In the past, the palace also housed the remains of monarchs and senior royals before their cremation ceremonies. The complex is divided into two key areas: the revered Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the former royal living quarters.

Positioned on the west bank of the river in Bangkok, this iconic and majestic landmark is renowned for its breathtaking architectural design. The temple features a central spire, called a prang, adorned with intricate porcelain mosaic tiles, which give it a striking and unique appearance. Surrounding the central prang are four smaller towers, showcasing a harmonious blend of Khmer and Thai architectural styles. Climbing the steep steps of the central prang offers visitors panoramic views of the river and the cityscape.
