The tour offers and opportunity to stay in women-led homestays, where travelers are welcomed like family and get to share in everyday life with locals. The guided hike from Sanga to Panauti through scenic farmland and forests offers not only beautiful landscapes but also a window into rural Nepali life. Guests can participate in traditional Thaili-making workshops and explore Panauti’s ancient temples and heritage sites, gaining deeper insight into its Newar roots. This experience also directly supports local livelihoods and women’s empowerment, making it both meaningful and memorable.
We will meet at the bus stop at Sanga. You can catch a bus from Ratnapark in Kathmandu going to Dhulikhel or Panauti and drop off at Sanga.
You will start your day by meeting the local guide at Sanga gate (arrive at 08:30 AM) and start a hike from Sanga to Panauti (3-4 hrs.) via an off the beaten path with a local guide. This unique route takes you along some beautiful sceneries and villages.
Once you reach Panauti, you'll have lunch in one of the Community Homestays. Afterwards, make a Traditional coin purse- Thaili as a souvenir with the community women and bond over the activity. In the evening, assist your hosts in making Dinner for the night and learn about how a local dinner is made. Once it's ready, you can enjoy the food with the host and family!
The next day, tour the Indreshwori Temple and Triveni Ghat, one of the main attractions of Panauti, with a temple dating back to the late 13th century. You may also see the local devotees worshipping near the temple area. Once you have breakfast with your host family, you will depart to Kathmandu.
