The experience will allow the participants to engage directly with artisans and learn the art of Mithila Painting while gaining insights into their lives as well as the art's significance. This experience goes beyond mere observation as the participants are able to create their own Mithila painting and carry it back home as a memento.

Head east from the Narayanhiti Palace Museum. Continue till you see Narayan Hiti Pond to your right and walk on till two blocks ahead. You will find the Community Homestay Network's signboard at the end of a street. Please enter the street and continue straight till you see our office to your left.

What to expect

Mithila Art, which originates from Janakpur—the infamous origin for all Mithila arts of Nepal—is an ancient traditional style of painting that uses vibrant colors and unique designs. You will find various colours mixed/made by the artisan with a base of only a few colours. The artisan will guide you through the art's history and how it has impacted the artist's life. You'll have the chance to create your own masterpiece on the canvas using the colours of your choice with the brushes. Once you have created your masterpiece, join the artisans for lunch to conclude your session.
