With this workshop, you can get hands-on experience in Khukuri making and engage in an age-old technique of craftsmanship. You will be involved in making your own Khukuri knife from scratch for the day while also interacting with the local artisans to learn about their lifestyles and traditions.

Head east from the Narayanhiti Palace Museum. Continue till you see Narayan Hiti Pond to your right and walk on till two blocks ahead. You will find the Community Homestay Network's signboard at the end of a street. Please enter the street and continue straight till you see our office to your left.

What to expect

Khukuri, the pride of Nepalese and the Gurkhas, is the most iconic knife. Learn the art of making a Khukuri in a workshop that offers you an opportunity to learn the skill while you will get insight into the cultural and historical significance of Khukuri. You will not only learn the old techniques in detail but will find themselves taken back to the historic era.
Experience hammering a piece of iron, watching amber sparks flying in the air, and finally polishing the knife. Even with zero experience, you will gain hands-on experience in making a Khukuri, the symbol of pride of Nepal, as you will be guided by the gifted and knowledgeable blacksmiths. You will be amazed to see how a piece of metal turns into the symbol of bravery. This experience is definitely not the one you will ever forget!
