◉Use of International Driver's License
You will need to present your international driver's license and passport.
The driving validity of an international driver's license in Japan is one year from the date of issuance and one year from the date of landing in Japan.However, if a person recorded in the Basic Resident Register of Japan leaves Japan with confirmation of departure or re-entry permission, obtains a new international driver's license while in Japan for less than three months, and then re-enters Japan, the date of re-entry is not the start date of the driving period of the international driver's license, and is therefore not allowed to drive in Japan.In addition, driving with an international driver's license issued in a form based on other conventions (such as the Vienna Convention) is not permitted in Japan, even if the driver's license is issued by a member state of the Geneva Conventions.

Driver's license for only five countries and one region: Principality of Monaco, Swiss Confederation, Federal Republic of Germany, French Republic, Kingdom of Belgium and Taiwan
Applicants must be accompanied by a Japanese translation prepared by a person designated by Cabinet Order.
