    Day 1

Cozumel Jeep or Buggy Island Tour Plus Mayan Ruins or Punta Sur

    4 stops
  • 1
    Cozumel

Kick off your island adventure in true Cozumel style — behind the wheel of a fun buggy or open-top Jeep. After meeting your guide and a quick safety briefing, follow the caravan along Cozumel’s coastal roads toward the wild east side of the island. Your first stop is a laid-back Caribbean beach escape, where you’ll have time to swim in the clear water, play beach volleyball or simply relax on a lounger by the sea. Light snacks and drinks are available for purchase before getting back behind the wheel. Depending on your cruise itinerary, your 2-in-1 adventure may begin in either Cozumel or Costa Maya.

  • 2
    Cozumel

Jump back in your Jeep or buggy and continue along Cozumel’s coastal roads toward your next beachfront stop. Follow your guide into the clear Caribbean water for a guided shore snorkeling experience, exploring colorful coral formations, tropical fish and marine life in the waters that have made Cozumel one of Mexico’s best-known snorkeling destinations. Back on shore, enjoy an oceanfront lunch with your choice of local favorites such as chicken fajitas, fish tacos or cheese quesadillas, with the Caribbean Sea right in front of you. From here, how you continue your Cozumel adventure depends on the tour option selected at booking — enjoy additional beach time or continue to Punta Sur or the San Gervasio Mayan Ruins.

1 hour 20 minutes Admission ticket free
  • 3
    Punta Sur Eco Beach Park

If you selected the Punta Sur option, finish your Cozumel adventure exploring the island’s largest ecological reserve, where lush mangroves, wildlife and beautiful Caribbean views reveal a wilder side of Cozumel. Spend approximately one hour discovering the highlights of Punta Sur with your guide, exploring the natural landscapes of the island’s southern tip and taking in the views along the way. Entrance to Punta Sur is included with this option. If you selected the standard Jeep or Buggy Island Tour, enjoy extra beach time instead — relax by the Caribbean, take another swim or simply soak up the sun at your own pace.

    1 hour Admission ticket included
  • 4
    San Gervasio Mayan Archaeological Site

If you selected the San Gervasio Mayan Ruins option, trade beach time for a step back into Cozumel’s Maya history. Follow your guide into the heart of the island to explore Cozumel’s most important archaeological site. Once a sacred place associated with Ixchel, the Maya goddess of the moon and fertility, San Gervasio reveals a fascinating side of Cozumel beyond its beaches. During your one-hour guided visit, walk along ancient stone paths, discover Maya traditions and beliefs, and see original structures that have stood for centuries. Entrance to San Gervasio is included with this option. If you selected the standard Jeep or Buggy Island Tour, enjoy extra beach time instead — relax by the Caribbean, take another swim or simply soak up the sun at your own pace.

    1 hour Admission ticket included
  • Day 2

Chacchoben Mayan City and Bacalar Lagoon from Costa Maya

    2 stops
  • 5
    Zona Arqueologica De Chacchoben

Step off your cruise ship and into the ancient Maya world, where temples rise from the tropical jungle and centuries of history are waiting to be discovered. Your tour departs one hour after your cruise arrives at Costa Maya Port. Enjoy the approximately 50-minute drive to the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins, traveling through small communities and tropical landscapes of Mexico’s Caribbean region. Explore ceremonial plazas and impressive temples as your professional guide brings the history, beliefs and astronomical knowledge of the Maya civilization to life at an archaeological site whose origins date back to around 200 BC. Along the way, discover the jungle’s native flora and keep an eye out for tropical birds and spider monkeys in their natural habitat. After exploring Chacchoben, continue toward Bacalar Lagoon for a completely different side of your Costa Maya adventure. Costa Maya may come before or after Cozumel — both are included in your 2-in-1 adventure.

2 hours 50 minutes Admission ticket included
  • 6
    Lake Bacalar

Leave the ancient Maya world behind and continue to Bacalar’s spectacular Seven Color Lagoon, famous for its remarkable shades of turquoise and blue. Spend time along the freshwater lagoon, once part of historic routes traveled by pirates, and enjoy it your way — take a refreshing swim, explore by kayak or simply relax by the water and take in the changing colors of Bacalar. Then enjoy a Mexican lunch by the lagoon with refreshing drinks, surrounded by the peaceful waterfront scenery that makes Bacalar such a special contrast to your time at Chacchoben. After experiencing ancient Maya history and the Seven Color Lagoon, sit back and enjoy the journey back to Costa Maya Port with plenty of time to return to your cruise. And whether Costa Maya came before or after Cozumel, your 2-in-1 adventure brings together two ports and two completely different sides of the Mexican Caribbean.
