We'll make a brief stop to stretch your legs and capture some photos of this iconic and historic location — the largest inland body of fresh water in Great Britain by surface area, and undoubtedly one of the most scenic. Free toilet facilities are available at the car park if needed.
A popular Highland rest stop surrounded by scenic mountain views and fresh country air. Explore the well-stocked gift shop featuring local products and souvenirs, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
A 10–15 minute flat walk takes you to the stunning ruins of Kilchurn Castle, set against the dramatic backdrop of Loch Awe. Keep an eye out for sheep and rams along the path! For those not wanting to join the walk, you can still enjoy views from afar, visit the nearby gift hut with local art, or relax by the picnic benches near the car park.
Here you have the option to join a walking tour of the castle’s interior (additional cost), where you'll discover fascinating artefacts, and stories of Clan Campbell, one of Scotland’s most powerful families. Even if you choose not to enter, the castle grounds and exterior offer a picture-perfect experience not to be missed. Please note: The castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but the grounds are still accessible via a scenic 800-metre walk from the drop-off point — ideal for photos and enjoying the beautiful setting.
Take time to explore the charming lochside town of Inveraray, a perfect stop for lunch and a stroll. Ask your guide for their top lunch recommendations — whether you’re after a cosy pub, fresh seafood, or a quick bite, they’ll point you in the right direction!
Take in the stunning views of scenic highland glen which is a memorable stop along the historic Old Military Road. This stop is dependant on weather conditions.
Discover the historic Old Church of Luss, home to a medieval Hogback grave and early medieval cross slab graves. Enjoy views of leisure boats on the loch and spot local wildlife in this tranquil setting. Luss is a picturesque village featuring beautifully maintained cottages and charming shops, many still lived in today.
