Our cruises depart from Westport Harbour .We are a short 5 minute drive from Westport Town Centre. From Westport Town Centre take the N59 signposted Westport Harbour. At the Towers Pub turn right. Turn left at T- junction ( signposted Clew Bay Heritage Centre). Continue straight for 100m.
Our cruise begins with a brief history of Westport Harbour; once the third largest tonnage harbour in all of Ireland.
Our next sight is Clew Bay's oyster farms. We passed over the area where over 1 million oysters are harvested every year.
Our next sight is the scene of the Achill Disaster. On the 14th June 1894, 30 Achill Islanders lost their lives as they made their way by hooker to Westport to board the SS Elm ; a steamship bound for Glasgow.
Our next sight is the "Holy Mountain" of Croagh Patrick. Admire the mountain from the sea as it towers over the south side of the bay.
Our next sight is the idyllic Maharishi Island of World Peace; a mecca for those in search of enlightenment.
