After meeting your tour conductor, you will board the Hokuriku Shinkansen with standard reserved seating. The journey offers a smooth and efficient way to travel long distances, allowing you to reach the Hokuriku region comfortably within a single day. Upon arrival at Toyama Station, you will transfer to your tour bus and begin your exploration. From Toyama Station, the bus travels about 90 minutes to Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its distinctive gassho-style houses with steep thatched roofs. You will have free time to walk through the village and explore its unique setting. The houses were designed to withstand heavy snowfall, and their architectural style is unlike anything found in major cities. The entire village presents a quiet, rural atmosphere that reflects traditional life in Japan. You can stroll along small paths, visit local shops, and enjoy the surroundings at your own pace.
Next, after a 70-minute bus journey, you will arrive in Hida Takayama, a historic town often referred to as “Little Kyoto” due to its preserved streets and traditional atmosphere. You will explore an area known for its old townscape, where rows of wooden merchant houses line the streets. The area is lively yet retains a strong sense of history. Visitors often enjoy tasting local snacks, browsing handmade crafts, and discovering small shops that reflect regional culture. With free time here, you can choose how to experience the town, whether through food, shopping, or simply walking through its historic streets.
After your visit, you will return to Toyama Station and board the Hokuriku Shinkansen standard reserved seating once again for your journey back to the Tokyo area. You will arrive to Tokyo Station between approximately 9:30 and 10:30 PM, where the tour concludes. *Final train details will be confirmed approximately one week before departure.
