The Oita River flowing through the Yufuin Basin, Lake Kinrin and the abundant hot springs are also Yufuin's unique natural blessings. The tour guide will walk with you through the back roads that few tourists visit, the countryside and waterside scenery, and show you the history and culture of Yufuin's development, supported by the bounty of nature. After the walking tour, enjoy lunch or tea time at one of Yufuin's popular ryokan.
We will meet at a tour desk of "Tabiclass", a guide company inside Enokiya Ryokan inn. Please come to the tour desk.
After an orientation at the tour desk, we will set off on tour with a guide.
After leaving the tour desk to Bussanji Temple, the tour guide will explain the history of Yufuin while walking through the streets with beautiful stone walls, public bathhouses used by the locals and the countryside with a view of Mt Yufudake. Located not far from Kinrin Lake, a popular tourist attraction, Bussanji Temple is an ancient temple of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism, surrounded by cedar and bamboo forests.
Shrine near Kinrin Lake. The torii gate standing on the lake is impressive. The sacred tree, a large cedar, is designated as a natural monument and is said to be one of the largest cedar trees in Oita Prefecture. After stopping at the shrine, return to the starting point, taking in the back alley scenery typical of a hot spring resort, such as the waterway with hot spring water flowing next to the houses.
On return to Enokiya Ryokan, enjoy lunch or a tea set.
