Built during the Nazi dictatorship for the 1936 Winter Olympics and remodeled for the planned Winter Olympics in 1940, which failed due to World War II. For this purpose, the two communities Garmisch and Partenkirchen were forcibly merged. Learn from your tour guide Stefan more about the darkest years 1933 - 1945, but also about the current use of the stadium and the ski jumps.
Please note that the Partnach Gorge can be temporarily closed due to maintenance work. The Partnachklamm is a fascinating 700 meters (1/2 mile) long and up to 80 meters (260 feet) deep gorge, through which the meltwater of the Zugspitze Glacier rages. It is safe to walk on all year round and is an ideal destination for any weather! Linderhof Castle is located in the seclusion of a charming Alpine valley. It is the smallest but most luxuriously adorned of the three fairytale castles of the Bavarian King Ludwig II.
