Kitakyushu-Kokura, the gateway to Fukuoka, is where the Honshu and Kyushu regions meet, giving birth to a dense and complex food culture. The same is true for ramen, one of Japan's most popular noodle dishes. Kitakyushu and Kokura's ramen is based on Kyushu-style tonkotsu (pork bone) soup, but it also has its own unique style.
