Upon your arrival to the Indira Gandhi International Airport, your driver will transfer you to your Delhi accommodations.
Pickup from your hotel in New Delhi at 9am and half-day city tour of Delhi. We visit the 11th century Qutab Minar Tower, built by Qutub-ud-din Aibek of the Slave Dynasty, who took possession of Delhi in 1206.
The India Gate, a memorial raised in honor of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war and drive past the grand government buildings, including the President’s House and Parliament House all dating back to the time of the British Raj.
There will be time for lunch at a local air-conditioned restaurant and then you’ll set off for drive to Jaipur which takes approximately 4 hours.
After breakfast, proceed to visit Amber Fort, which used to be the capital of the Kachhwaha clan until Jaipur was made the official capital in 1727. Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and is the most stunning sight in the city of Jaipur.
After lunch, proceed to visit City Palace, the principal residence of the ruling family and is known for its stunning architecture. Part of it is now converted into a magnificent museum. Jantar Mantar is a stone observatory raised in the 18th century.
Time permitting, you will visit the cottage industry specializing in hand-woven carpets and textiles. Here you can witness how silk carpets are handmade. After sightseeing transfer to the hotel in Jaipur.
Enjoy an early breakfast before heading out for four hours drive to Agra, the City of the Taj Mahal.
En-route stop to visit Fatehpur Sikri (Own expense), which has been described as “the world’s most perfectly preserved ghost town.” Built by Akbar in the late 16th century, it was abandoned after only 14 years, and the elegant buildings of this superb walled city remain intact to this day. Take your lunch break at 1:30pm, then head to the Taj Mahal or take a photo tour of the Taj Mahal from the riverside.
Pickup at 6am early morning at sunrise we leave to explore the monumental heritage of the Great Mughals, visit the magnificent Taj Mahal (Closed on Fridays), a UNESCO World Heritage Site one of the Seven Wonders of the World and surely the most extravagant expression of love ever created. 20,000 men laboured for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife. It's a wealth of white marble and semi-precious stone – « undoubtedly the highlight of the tour ».
Next we visit yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the imposing Agra Fort, built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D. This huge fort is made of red sandstone, and its interior reflects an interesting synthesis of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles.
After Sightseeing enjoy the shopping in Agra is known for its fabulous handicrafts, made of marble and softstone inlay work. The Mughals were great patrons of arts and crafts. Empress Nur Jahan took personal interest and was an accomplished artist herself in zari embroidery work. Agra's major handicraft products besides inlay work are: leatherware, brassware, carpets, jewellery and embroidery work.
Come 9am, drive back to New Delhi then break for lunch at 2pm, the driver will bring you to the airport to conclude the experience.
