Churchill War Rooms offer a fascinating insight into the history of the Second World War. We start with a short private guided walking tour with an expert guide. We explore London as it was during World War II, hearing about the Blitz, the Battle of Britain, the brave members of Churchill’s secret army, visit the Cenotaph, a poignant memorial to the fallen, Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament. We will then explore Churchill's War Rooms, the secret underground headquarters where crucial wartime decisions were made as we walk in Churchill’s footsteps.

    10 Downing Street

    No 10 Downing Street vies with the White House as one of the most important buildings in the world. Churchill and his wife moved into No. 10 Downing Street in June 1940. It has been the official residence of the Prime Minister since 1735. The door that Winston Churchill walked through as Prime Minster in 1940 is on display in the Churchill War Rooms.

    Churchill War Rooms

    Your private guided tour includes entrance tickets and skip the line access to the Churchill War Rooms, the secret underground headquarters of the War Cabinet during WWII. You’ll discover how these rooms became the nerve centre of Britain’s wartime government as it was here in May 1940 that Churchill declared “This is the room from which I'll direct the war”. You can see the marks on the arm of his chair, testament to the stress he was under. Everything you see in this underground bunker is original. Maps still bristle with pins, telephones sit silent, and even sugar lumps—saved for a precious cup of tea—remain exactly where they were left in 1945. The CWR were then abandoned, and time stood still, preserving this extraordinary bunker as one of Britain’s most important WWII sites. Please note: As your private guide I will accompany you into CWR, with skip the line tickets, and get you set up with your audio guided tour and map. I will then leave you to enjoy them at your own pace.
