SAN JUAN CHAMULA - ZINACANTÁN - DEPARTURE FROM SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS
Departure at 9:30 am. towards the indigenous community of San Juan Chamula, in this indigenous community we will visit the church where we can appreciate the people in traditional costumes performing rituals inside the temple, we will have 1:30 minutes to visit the surroundings.
Then we will continue with the tour in another indigenous village “San Lorenzo Zinacantán” native to the Tzotzil indigenous language, where you can buy handicrafts or make a photo session with the typical wedding dress of the town, we can also taste the food and traditional brandy of the community.
We finish the tour returning to the city of San Cristobal de las Casas.
Return approximately 1:30 pm.

    San Juan Chamula is a Tzotzil community, 10 kilometers away from San Cristóbal de las Casas. Pre-Hispanic origin that exercises its authority based on customs and customs. San Juan Bautista, San Pedro, San Sebastián, are the three neighborhoods that make up this ceremonial center, each with its pantheon presided over by gigantic crosses that present Chul Metic (Mother God) and Chul Totic (God Father), there is the seat of authority and the place where religious syncretism gives its maximum expression: the temple of San Juan Bautista, whose deep meaning mixes the Christian tradition with pre-Hispanic roots.
