Eamonn will pick you up and drive you to the Liberties area of Dublin which was the historical heartland of brewing and whiskey distilling in Dublin, still home to the famous Guinness brewery since 1759 and full of interesting auld Dublin history and local stories. If preferred we will have a short easy walk around this area so we can really get a feel for it as well as a few great photo spots! Learn about the man himself, Arthur Guinness, his gentlemanly life in Georgian Dublin, Guinness family ancestry and Arthur's own family as well as the true story of his early life, The man who turned a beer into a culture!
We stop at a significant location from medieval Dublin to talk about what life was like in old Ireland for the different classes in society so that we can have some context of where Arthur Guinness and family began and elevated to in life. Great photo stop too as we taste a different Guinness blend at this location.
Discover Iveagh House which was a Guinness family mansion from the era of The Guinness family as the wealthiest in Ireland. Exterior house history & chat about this opulent home that was bought by Benjamin Guinness in 1856! A very nice photo op too. (Iveagh gardens are the original House gardens at the back)
Landscaped and developed by Guinness Philanthropy we can also discuss the charitable legacy of the family whom also were responsible for the Cathedral renovations and the large housing development either side of the park!
Stop in to a legendary Dubliner's Guinness pub for a picture perfect pint and the famous ambience as the locals chat to the hiss of the Guinness tap. Established in 1833!
At the Dubliners famous 'Floozy in the Jacuzzi' monument we appreciate the hulking Guinness site from a distance so we can really understand its evolution.
Finish up in a friendly Dublin city gem of a pub with a 'Pull your own pint' experience and receive a 'Guinnessologist' certificate from Eamonn, a black belt in Guinness himself! Pints are optional and at your own expense.
