Visit Lucca, Montecatini Alto and the Nievole Valley in one day, with a private tour and our expert local driver.
Enjoy a delicious lunch in a real Tuscan farm and taste 5 of our best wines. After the pick up we will visit Lucca in the morning
• Lucca is an artistic and musical city and birthplace of the composer Giacomo Puccini. This city is a wonderful jewel between its perfect ancient walls and its famous Oval Square. The Cathedral of Lucca is one of the most important churches in Tuscany and the Guinigi Tower.
• For lunch we will move to a typical Tuscan farm, where you will taste the best wines of our region with cold cuts, bruschetta and extra virgin olive oil with a delicious homemade pasta.
• After lunch we will head towards Montecatini to take the ancient Italian Funicular (date 1848) which will arrive, through a breathtaking landscape, in the town of Montecatini Alto.
(Important note: the Funicular opens one week before Easter and closes on October 31st).

Our expert driver will pick you up from your hotel or apartment at 9:00 AM, and your day kicks off with a smooth ride toward the enchanting city of Lucca. Your first stop is this magical Tuscan gem. After a quick, curated intro to its most iconic spots, you’ll enjoy two full hours of free time to wander, discover, and fall in love with the city at your own rhythm. For lunch, we’ll take you to a true Tuscan treasure: Carmignani Farm. This family-run estate — with a winemaking tradition dating all the way back to 1386 — is where centuries-old heritage meets modern innovation. Here, you’ll discover ancient vineyards lovingly tended and bathed in the perfect sunlight of this renowned D.O.C. region, producing wines so refined they could easily tempt Bacchus himself. Your experience begins with a welcome toast offered by the estate’s sommelier, Elena, who will guide you into her world of wine. And that’s just the beginning: waiting for you is a three-course lunch, entirely homemade, crafted using only the freshest products from the farm. During your meal, you’ll enjoy five wine tastings, all produced directly from Elena’s own vineyards — a sensory journey that tells the story of the land, passion, and authenticity of this historic estate. After lunch, we’ll head to the historic Montecatini Funicular, a magical railway that feels like stepping straight into another era. Here, you’ll find the ancient red trains, a true trip back in time, ready to carry you up to Montecatini Alto, the city’s picturesque upper village — and the ride itself is part of the magic. The experience is truly one of a kind. As the twin trains travel up and down, they meet at the midpoint in what looks like a friendly “kiss” amid the lush hillsides. Kids absolutely love this moment — it’s fun, unexpected, and makes the journey even more special. Once at the top, get ready for breathtaking panoramic views over the Valdinievole, where rolling hills and endless landscapes create a picture-perfect scene. Winter Closure: The funicular is closed from November 2nd to December 25th for seasonal maintenance and reopens on December 26th. If you’re traveling outside these dates, don’t miss this enchanting ride — it’s a highlight for both adults and children!

4Montecatini Alto
The funicular will whisk you up to Montecatini Alto, a charming medieval village perched gracefully above the “new” town of Montecatini Terme. As the original heart of the area, Montecatini Alto is brimming with history, culture, and stories of illustrious figures who once wandered its streets. This timeless village, one of the oldest in the Valdinievole, invites you to get lost in its winding cobblestone alleys, admire its historic landmarks, and soak up its truly enchanting atmosphere. From its hilltop perch, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views across the Nievole Valley, stretching all the way to the city of Lucca — a vista that’s nothing short of unforgettable. After soaking in the magic of Montecatini Alto, we’ll make our way back to your starting point, with the journey scheduled to conclude at 5:00 PM.
