Tour starts in Swakopmund, Inform us of your location and we will arrange Pick up along the coast.
After leaving Swakopmund , at 10h00, we stop over at the Lichen Fields and learn about Desert Fauna and Flora. We drive over the gravel plains to The Moonlandscape and view the 400 million year old are. Listen to the quietness, see endlessly far and feel as if you are on the Moon
We continue through the Desert, discussing Mining and desert research on our way to the Welwitschia Plains. here we stop and learn about this age old Desert plant that really only has 2 leaves coming out of the stem, there are male and Female plants and the interesting little bugs that pollinate them. We then drive through the Namib Nauklufft park , hopefully find desert animals, like Oryx , Springbuck or Ostriches. on our way to Solitaire. En-route we will have a light lunch and see Namibia's amazing geology. We learn about the larva flow era, mountain building era and the forming of the escarpment. A continuously varying and very interesting desert.
Solitaire a tiny desert Service station where we stop to refuel. You can try their famous apple pie? a nice surprise out here in the desert. Then we drive for about 1/2 hour to Moon Mountain Luxury tented camp
After an early breakfast we pack a light lunch and before it gets to hot leave for Deadvlei. Here the 2km dune walk is taken to view old thorn trees that died hundreds of years ago and look like yesteryear. The fit can challenge Big Daddy at 380m one of the highest dunes in the world. Take water , sunscreen, a hat and good walking shoes along. Its at your own risk. we then drive to Sossusvlei , for Phots, a walk and a rest under the huge camelthorn trees. Its normally very hot in the Desert and care must betaken for heat exhaustion and dehydration. we leave for Dune 45
We stop at Dune 40 and Dune 45 and take Photos or walk up the dune, most are exhausted after the earlier dune walk.
We stop at Elim Dune, take photos and view the Oryx and Springbuck, maybe find a lonely Ostrich.
Next we stop at Sesriem Canyon, go for a short walk and explore this wonder in the desert. An old river bed, eroded deep down , some places 10m and sometimes with a trickle of water. When first discovered in 1908 the farmers had to use 6 cattle thongs tied together to get water out for the cattle. Hence the Afrikaans name, SESRIEM, translated meaning 6 thongs. We leave the Park at midday and head for Solitaire to refuel. We leave Sesriem and the Park at 13h00 and head back to Swakopmund.
We refuel at Solitaire once again and head for Swakopmund some 5 hours away.
Once back in late afternoon we drop you off at your accommodation.
