Stroll through the neighborhood of Saint Germain and visit local shops, markets and restaurants sampling the finest in French fare, from the simplest crisp-crusted baguettes and velvety chocolates to exquisite olive oils, and other seasonal surprises. And not to mention memorable variations on the age-old theme of great wine and fabulous cheeses.
We’ll fascinate and delight you with what you’re tasting, as we share wonderful stories about the local cuisine and lively historical anecdotes about the quarter’s restaurants and cafés. (When you’re done, consider yourself a “Germanopratin”, or an honorary native of Saint-Germain.)
Your guide will meet you at the red door of the Saint Germaine Church on the west side of the building across from the Café Deux Magots. The church is located beside the Saint Germaine-des-Pres metro stop.
The tour will end just at the farmers' market that is just couple of blocks from the meeting point.
Wander down little neighbourhood streets and explore "off the eaten path" pleasures with your guide. Along the way, you will learn the history and hear interesting anecdotes about the neighbourhood. Your first stop will be at a local bakery to enjoy a coffee with some delectable baked treats. From there you will visit fine French food shops, a renowned chocolate shop, and a covered farmers market. You will meet the vendors and indulge in tastings prepared specially for you. And don't forget the wine! Please note that tastings vary according to specialities of the season.
