What to expect

Canyoning in Ribeira das Cales offers one of the most privileged ways to engage with the unparalleled natural heritage of Madeira Island. This unique adventure is accessible to both experienced enthusiasts and beginners eager to try their hand at this exhilarating sport.

The canyoning route at Ribeira das Cales stretches over 850 meters and typically takes about three and a half hours to complete. With a descent of 120 meters, it is considered an easy course, making it a popular choice for those new to canyoning. The journey begins near Pico do Areeiro, one of the highest peaks in the archipelago at 1818 meters, located within the Funchal Ecological Park. Participants will navigate a series of rappels, the tallest being 12 meters, and will enjoy numerous natural pools filled with the region's crystal-clear waters.
