As the founder and Product Director of Lalaland, I’ve often asked myself: if I could choose one instrument to represent China to the world, what would it be?The answer always comes to me clearly—the Guqin.

If you wish to experience the soul of ancient Chinese music—the essence of the mysterious East—then the Guqin is your ultimate choice.

I’m also honored to introduce my closest friend, who began her journey with the Guqin at the age of nine. With over three decades of dedication, she is now not only a celebrated Guqin performer at major events but also a university professor. If you’re in Chengdu and wish to explore the world of the Guqin, she is undoubtedly your ideal guide.

Itinerary

Step into a hidden oasis just beyond Chengdu’s bustle, where time slows to the rhythm of silk strings. Your journey begins as we escort you to the secluded garden studio of a revered guqin master—one of China’s foremost custodians of this 3,000-year-old art, honored as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

For over two decades, she has preserved the guqin’s meditative traditions, and today, you’re invited into her private world. Wander through her sun-dappled courtyard, where bamboo whispers and koi ripple in lotus ponds—a landscape seemingly lifted from a Tang dynasty painting.
