Bandipur Wildlife tour is a 2 day tour from Bangalore to explore the erstwhile hunting grounds of the Mysore Maharaja which is today a wild life reserve for several endangered species. The next highlight is a boat safari over the Ranganathitu Bird Sanctuary islets. On our return we will visit the fabulous Mysore Palace which was the seat of power of the Mysore Kings.

630 AM– We start towards our destination, Bandipur located 250 KMs from Bangalore. The ride will take 5 hrs. The route is via forests where the Mysore Maharajas used to hunt. Noon– We check into Bandipur Safari Lodge. Lunch follows. 330-645– Safari The safari is over 2.5 hours. Bandipur Wildlife Reserve was established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger, and was once a private hunting reserve for the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Mysore. The park spans an area of 874 square kilometers (337 sq mi), protecting several species of India’s endangered wildlife like Indian elephants, gaurs, tigers, sloth bears, muggers, Indian rock pythons, four-horned antelopes, jackals and dholes.

The grand Mysore Palace is the highlight of the tour of Mysore from Bangalore. We will travel back to the golden era of Mysore Maharajas to imagine the glory that was Mysore, epitomized by this wonder built in Indo-Saracenic style with a blend of Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles of architecture. The Palace is a three-storied stone structure, with marble domes and a 145 ft five-storied tower and the most popular among Mysore tourism places.
A thrilling boat safari awaits us over the islets on the river Cauvery which form the bird sanctuary. From vibrant Painted Storks and graceful Spoonbills to industrious Openbill Storks and swift River Terns, the sanctuary is a vibrant collection of over 220 bird species, with migratory visitors from as far as Siberia adding to the spectacle, especially during the winter months (November to February). Beyond the birds, keep your eyes peeled for marsh crocodiles basking on the riverbanks and playful otters in the water, making every moment an adventure.
