    Leh Royal Palace

    Leh Palace was constructed by Tsewang Namgyal the founder of the Namgyal dynasty of Ladakh, in 1553. The construction of the palace was completed under the reign of Sengge Namgyal who was popularly known as the Lion King during the 17th century. While the upper floors of the palace were used as the residence, the lower floors comprised of stables and storerooms

    Hall of Fame

    This is a museum where on the ground floor, we can see exhibits about the history, culture and other associated facts with Ladakh. In the upper floor, there is a section named OP Vijay Gallery. Here, you can see the various kinds of weapons used in the Kargil war, along with the various arms and ammunition captured by the Indian Army during the war. On the same floor, in yet another section, various kinds of apparel and amenities used by the Indian Army in the Siachen region have also been displayed. Some of these show the pictures of army posts on the glacier, living accommodation of the troops and the training process of the troops on ice walls, besides others.

    Hemis is a 17th century Buddhist shrine which was re-established in 1672. This famous monastery in Ladakh is of the Drukpa Lineage of Buddhism.

    Shey Monastery

    Earlier, Shey was the summer capital of Ladakh. The original palace of Lhachen Palgyigon (King of Ladakh) was built in this village in the 10th century. In the 16th century, Mirza Muhammad Haider Dughlat (Mughal noble) stayed there during his annexation of Ladakh. The current Shey monastery and palace were built in 1655 under the direction of Deldan Namgyal in the memory of Sengge Namgyal below the palace
