In the afternoon, step into Vietnam’s wartime history with a guided visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground system used during the war. 08:00 AM: Our car and tour guide will pick you up at the office (28/13 Bui Vien, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1) or at pre-arranged hotels in central District 1
11:00 AM: After about a 3-hour drive, you will arrive at Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh – the largest Holy See of the Cao Dai religion and one of the most famous spiritual tourism destinations in the region. This sacred site attracts thousands of visitors every year. 12:00 - 1PMPM: you’ll have the rare opportunity to attend a Cao Dai prayer ceremony alongside local worshippers. This is a special chance to learn more about Cao Dai – the third-largest religion in Vietnam. 1PM - 2:30PM: After the visit, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch and take a short break before the afternoon adventure.
2:45 PM – 3:00 PM: Depart for the Cu Chi Tunnels, a legendary historical site about 70 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. This remarkable underground network stretches over 250 km with multiple levels and hidden entrances like a spider web. 3:00 PM: Arrive at Ben Duoc Tunnels, once the base of the Saigon – Cho Lon – Gia Dinh military command during the war. Designated a National Historical and Cultural Site in 1979, this tunnel system showcases the daily life and military operations of Vietnamese soldiers during the war.
3:30 PM: Watch a short documentary film about the guerrilla warfare in Cu Chi. Then, learn about the tunnel layout through a cross-sectional map and introduction by your guide. 3:45 PM: Continue your exploration of Ben Duoc’s key highlights, such as: A 15-meter-deep well inside the tunnels Camouflaged termite mound ventilation holes Secret trap doors, fighting bunkers, and spiked booby traps Then, visit the Hoang Cam Kitchen, a clever invention used to hide smoke during cooking.
4:35 PM: Take a short break and enjoy a local guerrilla snack—boiled cassava with peanut salt. Visit the workshop area to see how military uniforms, sandals, and handmade weapons were produced. Browse the souvenir shop for unique items made from bullet shells and traditional crafts. 5:00-5:30 PM: Walk to the Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple, a meaningful site honoring fallen heroes, featuring Vietnam’s largest ceramic mural. If time permits, try shooting real bullets at the Defense Shooting Range and visit the Liberation Area, a re-creation of Cu Chi life during wartime.
5:30 PM: Depart Cu Chi and head back to Ho Chi Minh City. 7:30 – 8:00 PM: Arrive in District 1, ending the Faith & History Combo Tour.
