Ciqikou (Porcelain Port)
Enjoy lunch in the local restaurant, then heading to Ciqikou. With the history of 1700 years, Ciqikou is famous for its production of porcelain in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Take your time to stroll around the village with your tour guide who will explain the histories and stories along the way. Discover three notable attractions of the village: tea bars, the artists' studios and the Shu Embroidery workshops. Finally, finish your tour in the lively nightlife district of Jiefangbei Square. As the busiest and most prosperous business district in West China. Chongqing- Dazu Rock Carvings(L)

The Dazu Rock Carvings
Meet up at the lobby of your Chongqing Downtown hotel in the morning, greeting by your knowledgeable and friendly personal guide then transferred by an air-conditioned vehicle to Dazu Rock Carvings (approx.2 hours), relax on the way and enjoy beautiful countryside view. Listed as the UNESCO Site, the construction of Dazu Rock Carvings began in 650, and continued into the 17th century. The rock carvings are an outstanding example of China's grotto art in the middle and late period of ancient China. So far, 50,000 statues and 100,000 inscribed with Chinese characters have been identified. The cliff statues are large in size, well carved and among the best preserved of this form of Chinese cave temple art. The Dazu Rock Carvings occupy an important position in the history of China's grotto art. They include not only Buddhist figures, but Taoist and Confucian figures, which makes them different from earlier grottoes. The statues have strong national and secular features and depict the daily lives of ancient people. They mark the completion of the localization process of China's grotto art and reflect great changes and developments in China's folk religion and grotto art.

Baodingshan and Beishan carvings are the most well-known and popular sites which shows the marvelous carvings skills, magnificent scales, various religious themes, and lifelike statues. Follow your tour guide, start to explore from Beishan Site, which shows the Assembly of Oriental Beauties', You will see the graceful statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. Get to know the carvings in this part which reveal the common Buddhist faith.

Continue to Baodingshan Rock Carving. Where you can find 13 groups of stone carving figures, totaling nearly 10 thousand cliffside figures. Admire Song dynasty sculptural art, and let your tour guide point you different stories: the birth of Buddha, the nature of change, heaven, hell, cause and effect, and especially about people. You will find normal people, including farmers, are shown working in the carvings, also singing and dancing, drinking wine, pursuing the various tasks of daily life. You will also see the "Thousand-Arm Goddess of Mercy " , the Sleeping Buddha and other carvings. Enjoy lunch in the local restaurant, afterwards you will be transferred to your hotel in Chongqing.
