Our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arushal, the airport or any other location that you will be stationed and be driven to your camp in Lake Manyara National Park. After checking in at camp you will have lunch and then take off on a canoeing tour to see “Wildlife from Water”. This two-and-a-half-hour long canoe safari on Lake Manyara is an unprecedented experience of waterside game viewing. This scenic lake made the famous writer, Ernest Hemingway exclaim “The loveliest I had seen in Africa”. From the safe shallow waters of this beautiful soda lake you will paddle silently along the shoreline in a two-man canoes; drifting past buffalo, giraffe and elephant that gather along the banks and walloping hippo and fabulous aquatic bird life that are in the water. This is a most unusual and memorable safari that allows you to see wildlife from a whole new perspective. Later in the evening you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast you will drive to the Lake Ndutu area, situated in the Ngorongoro conservation area. Ndutu is part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem and like most rift lakes, is alkaline but still drinkable and consumed by a wide array of local wildlife. Every year, between November and December, the wildebeest herds are returning to the Serengeti from the Maasai Mara, passing along the Central Serengeti and crossing over to the Ndutu plains. This is where the breeding and calving season begins and goes on from December through the months of March and April. Every year roughly a million wildebeest gather on the short grass plains of the Southern Serengeti to give birth. This phenomenal spectacle should not to be missed. During the breeding and calving season literally tens of thousands of young wildebeest are born by the end of the season. Your day will be filled viewing this amazing life cycle. Later in the evening you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast you will take off on a full day game drive. The calving season causes the area to come alive with wildlife activity. The area predators and scavengers alike engage in a rare feast of easily attainable meals; provided by the newly born calves that stray from their mothers. Many other big game follow the migration herds making Ndutu a place where you can observe an amazing spectacle incomparable to any other wildlife phenomenon across the continent. It is the only wildlife show of its kind where safari goers witness wildebeest migrate clockwise within the Serengeti ecosystem. Safari-goers can also witness wildebeest fight off the African predators as they journey on an 1800 mile pilgrimage in search of greener pastures. After the action packed game drive you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast you will check-out and begin your journey to the Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch to enjoy along the way. This park is characterized by large herds of elephant, the infamous tree-climbing lion and the fascinating baobab trees also called the “Tree of Life”. This park is especially known for the Tarangire River which flows year round. Upon arrival you will check-in to your campsite, have dinner and settle in for the night.
After breakfast you will take part in and get an authentic glimpse into the distinctive Maasai culture; learning about the preservation of their proud traditions that set the Maasai apart from other indigenous groups in Tanzania. The Maasai embody a side of Africa that few outsiders can comprehend. Maasai expeditions will offer you a memorable opportunity to interactively experience the Maasai way of life and allow you to participate in a variety of unique cultural activities where you are encouraged to delve as deep into the experience as possible! Later in the day you will return to camp for lunch and then check-out and travel back to Arusha. Upon arrival you will be dropped off at your specified location. This is where your safari will end.
