    Standing on this former public executions square, the Hôtel de Ville was built during the the mid XVIth and XVIIth centuries While the Louvre was also in Construction. It was burned during the final days of the Paris Commune in May 1871. It has since been rebuilt and now houses the Paris City Hall.
