The snowy scenery of Korouma Canyon provides the opportunity for winter hiking surrounded by beautiful and unforgettable views. Korouoma Canyon is one of the largest natural attractions that Lapland has to offer. It is a bedrock fracture zone which is millions of years old.
The Korouoma Canyon is home to a diverse range of animal species, such as deer, wild hare, foxes, and golden eagles. Occasionally, one can spot enthusiastic ice climbers ascending the frozen waterfalls despite the frigid weather. Along the Koronjää trail, one can admire three of the largest and most stunning frozen waterfalls in Korouoma.
The Korouoma area is a perfect destination for a day tour, with numerous lean-to shelters with campfire spots available in the area. A campfire break with snacks is included to keep you warm and energised throughout the day.

These icefalls are unique in Finland and they are excellent for walking and appreciate the beautiful nature around it. The Ice Trail in Korouoma canyon is the ideal place to try this truly fun way to experience deep snow and unforgettable forest landscapes! The entire area is a natural reserve. At the bottom of the canyon there's Korojoki River, which ends up to Kemijoki River. There are plenty of species in varied nature of Korouoma, including Deers, Wild Rabits, Foxs, and Golden Eagles.Hiking is a perfect activity for the whole family as anyone can do it - no previous experience required. With winter overalls and proper boots anyone can walk in deep snow without any type of cold. The Koruoma Waterfalls are magic and remain frozen until late spring. Precipitation and sub-zero temperatures determine the number and shape of frozen waterfalls. All visitors get stunned to just admire the frozen waterfalls and see the enthusiastic ice climbers climb up the frozen waterfalls to the top, despite the intensely cold weather. You will admire the ice falls along the Koronjää trail, which leads you past three of the biggest and most beautiful frozen waterfalls in Korouoma.
