Day 1: Travel from Marrakech to Tinfou via Ait Ben Haddou, enjoy a camel ride, sunset, dinner, and music in the desert. Day 2: Visit Tamegroute, M'Hamid, and Erg Chegaga dunes; experience a sunset, dinner, and overnight stay in a Berber tent. Day 3: Return to Marrakech via Foum Zguid, Lake Iriqui, and Ouarzazate, arriving by 6 PM.
You will start your adventure very early as your driver will pick you up in Marrakech at 7:30 am. You will travel for about 2 hours through the magnificent Atlas Mountains passing through the picturesque Tizi 'n Tichka Pass, stopping for breakfast and photos along the way. Then, you will head to Ouarzazate, stopping to visit the UNESCO-protected Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. You will have lunch there before departing to Zagora. You will pass through Agdez and many Berber villages, and visit the Draa Valley and its beautiful palm groves. Arriving in the center of a Tinfou village, you will say goodbye to your driver and mount your camels. You will drive to your desert camp across the beautiful sand dunes for about an hour and a half, arriving in time to watch the unforgettable desert sunset. You will drink tea with the nomads, enjoy dinner, and then listen to traditional Berber music around a fire.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise in the desert, then enjoy breakfast before departing your peaceful desert camp. Your driver will take you to Tamegroute, where you will see the authentic working pottery kilns, the Koranic library housing ancient manuscripts, and the underground kasbah. After tea with a Berber family - my family - you will depart by 4x4 to M'Hamid, a small village and the last town and oasis in the Draa before the great desert of Erg Chegaga in the Sahara. Your desert adventure will continue with a 60km off-road drive from M'hamid to the Erg Chegaga dunes, the largest group of dunes in the Sahara. Enjoy the golden sunset in the desert before a traditional dinner and overnight stay in a Berber tent.
After breakfast at Erg Chegaga camp, you will set off by 4x4 to cross the old Paris-Dakar race route to Foum Zguid, crossing the naturally dried-up Lake Iriqui. Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate, then continue to Marrakech. You should arrive late afternoon, around 6pm, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Riad.
