Livorno is the port of Tuscany, a lively city, born as a welcoming port for foreigner communities thanks to the Medici. It is different from the rest of Tuscany, with an interesting history as a free port in its past.
We will start from Piazza del Municipio, the dropping point for all the shuttle busses coming from the harbour.You will see how open minded was the Medici vision in creating their cities but even the great effort we made to rebuilt our historical memories: for example the Synagogue temple, totally rebuilt after WWII, We will see the Medici Harbour, the Old Fortress and the local fish market, the old district “La Venezia” with its canals and buildings,

Livorno has always been known as an open city, hosting various religious communities . We will see the Synagogue from the outside and talk about the importance of the Jewish community in town.
It is literally "the big street" of the city , the central one. And even the shopping area where yu can go back after the tour and before leaving.
This is the Medicean old harbor and its first military fortress. The Medici family develloped the city around this little harbour, now symbolised even by the statue of "Quattro mori". You can even see the fishermen selling their fresh products and working.

We will end at the “Mercato Centrale”, the local food market and soul of the city, where you see, smell and observe the atmosphere of the city. You can find here the local and popular street food like "cinque e cinque" (the chickpea pancake) or "frati", the local donaughts.
