The excursion begins with a visit to a family-run truffle farm. There, you will learn about what they do on a daily basis and how this special place operates. The farm is managed by a father and his two daughters, who work together to take care of the truffle orchards. They will explain how they train and work with their dogs to search for truffles, and how important the relationship between the dog and the farmer is. We will also discover the amount of work involved behind the scenes: maintaining the trees, protecting the soil, and patiently waiting for the right season to harvest these precious “black diamonds.” It’s a wonderful opportunity to understand the passion, tradition, and dedication that surround truffle farming.
Continue to the beautifully preserved medieval town of Uzès Stroll through its pedestrian streets, admire elegant stone facades, and enjoy free time for lunch. On Wednesdays, guests can explore the lively farmers’ market, or choose a restaurant on the famous Place aux Herbes, one of the most charming squares in the region.
In the afternoon, visit the UNESCO-listed Pont du Gard, a masterpiece of Roman engineering dating back to the 1st century AD. Walk toward the aqueduct with your guide for an introduction to its history before enjoying free time to explore the site at your own pace. Entrance is included.
End the day at a welcoming family-owned winery set in a beautifully restored farmhouse. Taste several wines from the Côtes du Rhône and Lirac appellations, along with the estate’s olive oil, and learn about local winemaking traditions before relaxing on the return journey to Avignon.
