A Wildlife Encounter Like No Other
Most safari experiences put you behind glass. This one puts you in the saddle.
On this guided horseback wildlife safari, you will explore a private reserve nestled within the Magaliesberg, one of the oldest mountain ranges on Earth at over 2 billion years old. Unlike vehicle-based game drives, horses are accepted as non-threatening by resident wildlife, which means the animals do not scatter. They graze, move, and behave naturally as your group passes within remarkable proximity.
You will ride through rolling grasslands, acacia woodland, and elevated ridgelines with sweeping views across the valley. Along the way, your guide will track herds of Giraffe, Zebra, Kudu, and various Antelope species that roam freely across the reserve. The entire experience is motor-free and unhurried.

Meeting and pickup
Stephenson Adventures branded vehicle and a tour guide wearing branded uniform. If you are staying at a hotel or guest house we will meet you at the reception area of your hotel. If you are staying in a private residential the tour guide will meet you at the main gate of your property.

Upon collection from your hotel, you will receive a pre-departure briefing from your driver-guide before departing for the scenic Magaliesberg region. Arriving at the equestrian center, you will be introduced to your horse and receive a safety briefing and basic riding orientation. Once you are comfortable in the saddle, your guide will lead you into the private reserve. You will spend 2 hours traversing rolling hills and acacia woodland, stopping for photos at scenic viewpoints and tracking herds of resident wildlife. The silent approach of the horses allows for intimate nature encounters that are rarely possible on foot or in a car.
