What to expect

During this hands-on workshop, travelers will discover the full experience of Vietnamese coffee making in a relaxed Hoi An studio. You’ll begin with a warm welcome from your barista, who introduces the history of Vietnamese coffee, local bean varieties, and the unique roasting styles that create the bold flavors Vietnam is known for.

Next, you will explore the essential tools used in traditional brewing, especially the iconic phin filter. Your instructor will guide you through each step of the brewing process—measuring, tamping, dripping, timing, and adjusting flavor. You’ll then learn how to prepare modern favorites like coconut coffee or creamy milk coffee, using fresh local ingredients and practical barista techniques.

Throughout the class, you’ll have the chance to grind beans, control brewing temperature, and taste different coffee profiles to understand how each element affects the final cup. Photos are encouraged as you create your own beautifully layered drinks.

To finish, you’ll enjoy the coffees you made while receiving helpful tips and take-home recipes so you can recreate authentic Vietnamese coffee wherever you are.
