During our Tour, we see places like Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella and Mirissa. All places are unique in their ways. Sigiriya with its famous Lion Rock, the beautiful City of Kandy located next to a sea, Ella with its stunning nature and Mirissa with its breathtaking Beaches.
The tour ends in Mirissa. If you do not want to go to Mirissa, we easily can figure this out.

First stop on our Tour is Hingula. In Hingula we will do a village Safari, which is designed to give you an inside look into Sri Lankan life. You will ride around the village and see actual Sri Lankan people life (besides the touristic areas, since this place is not touristic). You will learn what gear we use, how we prepare our meals and we can eat some fresh made food there. This is the closest you can get to a real Sri Lankan experience in such a short time
We continue our journey towards Sigiriya, where we will stay for the next 2 nights.
Sigiriya is famous for its outstanding "Lion Rock". This rock is not only a Rock, but used to be a fortress site. You can walk up to the top of the Lion Rock and see the Ruins of the fortress as well as the old city. Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and definitely a must-see if you visit Sri Lanka.
We will visit the stunning Dambulla Cave temple. This Temple contains of 5 different Caves, which contain some of Sri Lankas most important religious Art. The oldest statues and drawings are around 2000 years old. From the caves, which are located around 150m above the Road, you have a stunning views and can even see Sigiriya from up there, where will stay for another night since we are going back to Sigiriya after Dambulla.
Also, there is an ancient archaeological side, called Polonnaruwa. With thousand of statues, ruins, temples, tombs and more there is a lot to explore. The buildings are about 1000 years old and in better conditions than Anuradhapura for example (which is much older though). This place is magical, even when your interest in history is not that big.
Located in Kandy, there is the Temple of tooth, another Temple that is definitely worth a visit. The temple contains Sri Lankas most important Buddhist Relic, the tooth of the Buddha. We will visit this temple with its golden roof. It is recommended by lonely planet and one of the most important temples in Sri Lanka.
Also we will do sight seeing around the beautiful city of Kandy, which is located next to a lake.Kandy is also known as the cultural Capital of Sri Lanka, we can take a walk at the gorgeous lake and visit the old city of Kandy with its colonial buildings. So there is a lot to discover. I will show you around and give you a small inside in Sri Lankan Life.
If you want, we can make some time and visit the Botanical Garden very close to Kandy. This is one of the most impressive and largest botanical gardens in Sri Lanka with not only a lot of different and gorgeous plants, but also a huge amount of birds and monkeys playing around in the trees. This garden in one of Lonely Planets top choices.
On Our way to Ella, we will visit the Ambuluwawa Tower with its outstanding architecture and amazing view from its top. Its architecture is unique in Sri Lanka.
We also pass a tea factory, at which we will stop so you can see the whole process of tea manufacturing with all of its steps like rolling, fermenting, drying, cleaning and packaging.
Visiting the beautiful small city of Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eilya is know for its stunning nature. It is surrounded by mountains and was a relaxing resort for British officials back in colonial times.Near Nuwara Eliya, there is the beautiful Victoria Park whom we can visit as well.
You can hop on to the train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. The train ride is famous for its beauty since the train slowly drives through gorgeous mountains and untouched nature. Once arriving in Ella, I will show you the small but beautiful city of Ella and we are going to eat something. We stay in Ella for the night.
On our way south we pass and stop by the Rawana Falls, which are one of the highest waterfalls in Sri Lanka and really stunning. Here we can take rest and enjoy the view. If you want you can take your time and take some pictures.
We just stop by another waterfall, named Diyaluma. Even higher than the first one and just as beautiful. Here you can take some pictures, too and then we will continue our journey.
We also stop by the Buduruwagala, which is an old ancient Buddhist temple with 7 large and ancient statues close to Yala National Park.
We end our journey in Mirissa with its beautiful Mirissa Beach. At the beach, you can enjoy some fresh fish as well as some cocktails if you would like. Sitting there eating and drinking with your feet in the sand is the best way to end a andveturues journey like this. If you do not want to go to Mirissa, but somewhere else in the south, just let me know then we easily can arrange that.
