Orheiul Vechi ("Old Orhei") is a spectacular archaeological complex located about 60km north-east of Chişinău between the villages of Trebujeni and Butuceni. This beautiful valley bordered by the river Răut, is one of the most famous tourist sites of the country. The panorama is breathtakingly beautiful. There are several old buildings dating from different periods. The Curchi Monastery, is one of the most significant monuments of Moldavian architecture. It is located in the region of Orhei, 55 km from Chisinau, the capital; on the right side of the Vatici Valley, at the foot of the forest called "Codru".
