What to expect

For your Zanzibar dolphin adventure, choose based on your location. Kizimkazi, on the south coast, is best if you're staying nearby. Here, you'll actively search for and swim with bottlenose dolphins from a local boat—an exciting, fast-paced chase for brief, magical encounters.

Mnemba Island, a protected atoll off the northeast coast, is ideal for north/east coast visitors. This is a premium combo tour: a dolphin safari (often with spinner dolphins) followed by world-class snorkeling on the vibrant reef. It's a more serene and eco-conscious full-day experience.

Key advice: Pick the location closest to your hotel. A long cross-island drive is exhausting. Mnemba offers the best overall day, but Kizimkazi is fantastic if you're in the south. Always choose an ethical operator that respects the dolphins.Your choice between Kizimkazi and Mnemba is primarily about location. Kizimkazi, on the south coast, offers an exhilarating, fast-paced adventure. You'll board a local boat to actively seek out pods of playful bottlenose dolphins, with the chance to slip into the water for brief, thrilling swims alongside them. It's a raw and authentic experience. Swimming with turtlers is not included
