As total darkness falls over the coast, experience a true bucket-list phenomenon. Board our boat and slide through the quiet mangrove channels into the pitch-black Bioluminescent Bay. While Puerto Rico is blessed with multiple bio bays, La Parguera offers a deeply intimate distinction: it is the only bio-bay where you are legally permitted to swim.
A Living Interactive Glow: Rather than looking over the edge of a kayak, you will slip gently into the warm, dark water. The bay is alive with millions of microscopic dinoflagellates that emit a neon blue-green light whenever they are disturbed.
Streams of Pixie Dust: The moment you move, your body becomes part of the ecosystem. Every wave of your arms or flutter of your feet triggers a brilliant, glowing stream of neon “pixie dust” wrapping around you.
Underwater Shooting Stars: Slip on a pair of goggles to look beneath the surface. You will watch glowing streaks twist and shoot through the dark water like real-life shooting stars.

Meeting and pickup
**Pickups will begin in the San Juan area at 2:00 pm**
Upon booking, please send a text message with the primary name on the reservation, best phone number for your driver to reach you on, and address you are staying at.
We will then confirm you for pickup with the closest location and time. Please plan for 2:00 pm pickup and to be a little early. We will update you with an exact pickup time the day of your trip to optimize the route and ensure we remain on schedule for the boat in La Parguera. The pickup time will not be before 2:00 pm!
**TO ENSURE WE ARRIVE TO LA PARGUERA ON TIME, THE VAN WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STAY AFTER THE SCHEDULED PICKUP TIME . PLEASE ARRIVE A LITTLE EARLY**
What to expect
Sunset Chinchorreo: Start your evening along the waterfront malecón (boardwalk). Dive into chinchorreo—the local tradition of hopping between open-air spots to enjoy street food and drinks. Sample fresh bacalaítos, browse handmade crafts at Plaza San Pedro, or sip a mojito at casual harbor-side hangouts.
The Bio-Bay Swim: As darkness falls, board our boat and slide through mangrove channels into the pitch-black bay. La Parguera is the only bioluminescent bay in Puerto Rico where you can legally swim. Slip into the warm water and watch millions of microscopic dinoflagellates light up. Every movement triggers a brilliant neon blue-green glow around your body. Put on snorkeling goggles to watch glowing streaks shoot beneath the surface like underwater stars.

- **Total time on the water is 45 minutes - 1 hour. Guests will be able to swim for 20 minutes**

- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
