Mentions of sacred springs gushing from the bowels of the earth are found in the manuscripts of medieval historians and travelers along the Great Silk Road since the 7th century AD. For a long time, the mineral water outlet area has been a popular place of pilgrimage for the local population. In 1892, a resort was organized on the basis of mineral springs. Issyk - Ata Gorge houses a stone with the image of Buddha on it, displaying evidence that Buddhism existed in Kyrgyzstan centuries ago.
