Step into the rich past of Munich on this private walking tour through the city center. Begin at Karlsplatz, a historic city gate square that once marked the western entrance to medieval Munich. After viewing the towering Frauenkirche, continue to the 19th century Viktualienmarkt food market. Then arrive at Marienplatz, the city’s main square since the Middle Ages and the traditional heart of civic life. The highlight of the tour is the New Town Hall, a striking neo-Gothic landmark completed in the early 20th century. The interior features grand staircases, vaulted halls, and richly decorated chambers that still serve as the working offices of Munich’s city government. The walk concludes at the grand Munich Residence, once the seat of Bavarian rulers and one of Europe’s most impressive city palaces.
