Did an Empress who lies buried here, really walk on fire? Admire Bamberg’s finest example of pure Gothic architecture at the Church of Our Lady. At the Neue Residenz, the Rose Garden provides a picture-perfect view of red-tiled roofs below. Afterwards, descend through winding alleyways to the banks of the Regnitz River. There you will find Little Venice, a row of 17th century fishermen’s cottages. End at the iconic Old Town Hall, a building so stubborn it had to be built in the middle of the river.
