Mira de Aires Caves + Battle Monastery
It is estimated that the oldest stalactites inside this cave are more than 80,000 years old.
This visit to the depths of the earth is easily accessible, and the approximately 110 meters of depth are traveled safely, relaxing and with great enthusiasm.
The Caves de Mira de Aire were discovered on 27 July 1947 and a few years later became one of the most fascinating natural sites to visit.
The Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, better known as the Monastery of the Battle, is possibly the most beautiful of the Portuguese monasteries.
It was ordered to build in 1386 by King D. John I of Portugal, known as the Master of Avis, known as the King of "Good Memory", as a thank you to the Virgin Mary for the victory against the Castilian rivals in the famous battle of Aljubarrota.
This monastery of the Order of St. Dominic was built over almost two centuries until around 1563, during the reign of seven kings of Portugal.
