Annapurna Butterfly Museum established in 1965 by an American Peace Corps Volunteer, Late Dorothy Mierow. It is located inside Prithvi Narayan University Campus,Bagar Pokhara and 4.5 miles away from Lakeside (Tourist area). This Museum has an exceptional collection of 660 species of butterfly,insects,birds and models of wildlife. We can see various kinds of Precious stones and volcanic rocks in this museum. This popular tourist museum is managed and preserved by Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP)
Pokhara Regional Museum is the second largest museum of Pokhara and another famous place to learn and collect information about the history,lifestyle and culture of people living in Pokhara. This museum was inaugurated by Late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev in 1985. It attractively displays the life style and history of ethnic groups such as Gurung, Magar, Thakali, Tharu etc. It lies 3 km from Lakeside.
Gurkha Memorial Museum is truly dedicated to "Bravest of the Brave" (Motto of Gurkha soldiers) who joined British Army since 1875. Reminding the reminiscence of those soldiers and their historical brave works in the battlefield of first and second World War and other peace keeping movements have been beautifully displayed. This museum has a good collection of used uniforms, Medals, unseen pictures and videos of Gurkhas, emotional moments with a unique aspects of their family lives and many more materials used by those brave and courageous Gurkha soldiers during first and second world war time.
International Mountain Museum,situated around 5 km from Lakeside is purely devoted to the Mountains and Mountaineers who have climbed them. It provides information on Mountaineering, the World's Mountain System, Mountain Cultures, Environment, Prominent People in Mountain geography, ecology, exhibition of mountaineering, history and implied methods. It is managed by Nepal Mountaineering Association(NMA). We can enjoy the unique view of the three massive mountain peaks : Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu which are above 8000 meters with our single eyesight and no place in the world offers us such panoramic view.
