Coffee has been a fundamental element in the history and economic development of Brazil. Within the state of Rio de Janeiro there is a region that preserves the memories and testimonies of the cultivation and trade of coffee, offering visitors an enchanting proposal of nature, history and gastronomy deeply linked to each other. On this one day tour we will initially get to know the town of Vassouras, which was one of the great economic centers of the Brazilian empire and one of the major coffee production points in the 19th century. Later we will head to one of the oldest coffee fazendas located a few kilometers from the city, where the host will directly greet us telling us the story of his family and of the farm, explaining the evolution of coffee cultivation over almost 200 years and guiding us to discover the current crops and productions of what along the 1800s was considered "green gold".
