Positioned overlooking the Machico valley, the Pico do Facho Viewpoint offers visitors a panoramic view of great beauty. It is one of the most privileged places to admire the east coast of the island of Madeira. This observatory is located on a path that, before reaching the Caniçal tunnel, goes to the summit of Pico do Facho. It is a space with a lot of historical symbolism for the region: given its elevation, in other times large bonfires were lit here when it was necessary to alert the population to the arrival of enemy vessels.
