Osaka Kita is one of the 24 districts of Osaka. It is especially marked by the locals in his rivalry with Osaka Minami, and has been for a long time. Today, it has become a business district with many shops and restaurants, especially around Umeda, its most emblematic district. Osaka’s aptly named railway station is located in the centre of Osaka, in the middle of seven other stations. These stations handle more than 2.5 million passengers a day.

Umeda Sky Building has a bold architecture. It is 173 metres tall and consists of two 40-storey towers connected at their tops by an atrium with a 360-degree observatory. Over the years it has become one of Osaka’s flagship buildings and tourists flock to it. We go there and have a good view from Kobe to Osaka.

The Tsurunoten Shrine, also called Ohatsu Tenjin, is one of the most visited shrines in Osaka and a fortiori Kita, especially Umeda of which it is a protective shrine. It has more than 1300 years of history and it mainly celebrates Sugawara no Michizane, personality of the ninth century deified under the name of Tenjin, divinity of studies and knowledge. The shrine is also famous for the unfortunate romance between Ohatsu and Tokubei.
