We have a sighting guarantee, meaning we guarantee to sight at least one whale or dolphin species listed for the Azores, in Whale & Dolphin Watching activity. However, we cannot predict if it will be only whales, dolphins or both on a single tour since we work with wild animals, and their behaviour is unpredictable. If whales or dolphins species are not sighted during the tour, customer will have the possibility of another free tour, or in case of unavailability due to weather conditions, full refund.

What to expect

The Azores are considered one of the best Whale Watching spots in the world. Here, there have been registered 28 species of whales and dolphins in the past years (about 1/3 of the known cetacean species worldwide). Aiming for a responsible Whale Watching, we combine the whale and dolphin spotter, the so-called “Vigia” (a person who searches for whales and dolphins, using binoculars with long-range capability, from a high ground point and transmitting this information to our boats via radio), with our expertise in finding cetaceans from the boat and keeping them close in a safe and non-threatening way, according to the Azorean conduct code to approach cetaceans. These practices allow us to achieve success rates close to 99% in our sightings throughout the year.
