This educational walking tour of Rome for schools is designed to help students explore the Eternal City through its most iconic squares and monuments, turning the historic center into a true open-air classroom. Led by expert guides experienced in working with school groups, the tour combines history, art, architecture, and everyday Roman life in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
The itinerary begins in Piazza di Sant’Apollinare next to Piazza Navona, one of the most famous Baroque squares in Italy. Built on the remains of an ancient Roman stadium, Piazza Navona offers students a clear example of how modern Rome developed directly on top of its ancient past. The tour then stops outside the Pantheon before ending at Piazza di Spagna, a lively square known for the famous Spanish Steps.
Along the way, the tour includes additional landmarks, hidden corners, and storytelling moments, helping students connect major historical events with everyday life in Rome.

The students will stop in Piazza Navona and admire Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, learning how art and power shaped Baroque Rome, and experiencing the square as an open-air classroom where history, art, and daily life come together.

Pantheon (Pass by)
The students will stop outside the Pantheon and discover one of the best-preserved monuments of ancient Rome. From the exterior, they will observe its massive columns, the impressive portico, and the Latin inscription that tells the story of the emperors who built and rebuilt it nearly 2,000 years ago.

3Spanish Steps
The group will stop at the Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti and discover the famous Spanish Steps, one of Rome’s most iconic meeting places. As they look up the wide staircase, they will learn how it was designed in the 18th century to connect the city below with the church of Trinità dei Monti at the top.

4Piazza Di Spagna
The students will stop in Piazza di Spagna and discover one of Rome’s most famous squares, known for its role as a lively meeting point at the foot of the Spanish Steps. They will learn why the square takes its name from the nearby Spanish Embassy and how it became an important crossroads for travelers, artists, and students over the centuries.
