Shirakawa-go, tucked away in the mountainous region of Gifu Prefecture, is known for its unique architecture: houses with towering triangular roofs, called gassho in Japanese, meaning "to bring ones hands together in prayer." It's also home to two of Japan's National Parks, and is surrounded by lush nature that changes dramatically with the seasons.

After exploring Shirakawa-go, you'll continue your journey to Takayama, a town renowned for its rich history and beautiful surroundings.
