You will walk across Place Vendome, one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles in Paris, and a symbol of luxury. Indeed, there is a continuous stream of window displays to admire, full of glittering diamonds, rubies and emeralds. This square is also the home of the Vendôme Column. Forty-four metres high, it was commissioned by Napoleon to commemorate his victory over the Russian Empire at Austerlitz.
Your tour will continue to the Tuileries Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage site and part of the historical area which stretches along the banks of the Seine. The garden extends across more than 30 hectares, and boasts some 35 species of trees and dozens of varieties of flowers.
The next stop on the tour is Place de la Concorde, the largest square in Paris, situated between the Tuileries and the Champs-Elysées. Originally famous for being an execution site during the French Revolution, today it is one of the must-see places in Paris. Here your guide will show you its most important symbols, including the Egyptian Obelisk and Hittorff's two fountains.
A visit to Paris would not be complete without a stroll down the Champs Elysèe, a 2 kilometre street that runs from Place de la Concorde to the majestic Arc de Triomphe. Often described as ‘the world’s most beautiful avenue', it is another of the city's iconic symbols. Here you can admire its majestic monuments and enjoy a variety of shops and boutiques.
You will also witness the beauty of the Grand-Palais and Petit- Palais. Originally built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, it now hosts a range of temporary art exhibitions and the Fine Art Museum of Paris.
Moreover, you will see the world famous Arc de Triomph, the most monumental of all triumphal arches, constructed between 1806 and 1836 in honour of all French soldiers who fought for their country.
Last but not least, you will witness the majesty of the Eiffel Tower, undisputedly Paris' most iconic symbol. Built at the end of the 19th century, it was a demonstration of French engineering, a remarkable technical and architectural achievement and an emblem of technological prowess. This is where your tour will end, and you will have the perfect opportunity to take some souvenir photos to remind you of this amazing journey of discovery. So make sure you have your camera ready!
