It was built between 212 and 217 AD, during the reigns of Emperor Septimius Severus and his son Caracalla and was capable of hosting more than 1500 people at a time. Take a step back in time to the Roman Empire days as you explore at your own pace and learn the history behind the ruins and how it was more than just a bath. It was a leisure center, a library, a gym, and gardens. The Baths of Caracalla remained in use until the 6th century when the Gothic War destroyed the most part, but the remains are still outstanding and very well preserved.
